Tree care

With a deep respect for trees.

Comprehensive tree care and maintenance across Berks County and the surrounding areas, protecting the health of your trees with effective pruning and mulching. An owner-operated business with over 20 years of experience behind it.

How we get up there

No spikes on a tree that is staying.

Climbing irons are quick. They are also a row of puncture wounds every eighteen inches up the trunk of a tree you are being paid to look after, and on a live stem those wounds are a standing invitation to decay and to borers. On a removal it does not matter. On a prune it matters for the rest of the tree’s life.

Our training, skill and professionalism allow us to climb the highest trees without the aid of spikes, which lets us manage your trees without causing extra damage to them. It is slower. It is the difference between a pruning job and a slow removal you paid for by installments.

Our wide range of tree care services

Tree Pruning

Prune to current ANSI standards

Cuts made at the branch collar so the wound closes on its own. No flush cuts, no stubs, and no topping, a topped tree answers with a hundred weak shoots and becomes a bigger problem in five years than the one you were trying to solve.

Tree Thinning

Weight off the leads

Selective removal through the crown so wind moves through the tree instead of pushing against it, and so light reaches what you are growing underneath. Thinning is not the same as lion-tailing, which strips the interior and loads the tips.

Tree Clearing

Deadwood, hangers, crossing limbs and stubs out. It is the cheapest work on this page and the one that most often stops a limb landing on something in the next storm.

Tree planting and mulching

New trees set at the right depth with the root flare visible, and mulched in a ring rather than a volcano piled against the trunk. Most young trees that fail in Berks County were planted too deep and buried by mulch afterwards.

Hedge and shrubbery trimming

Hollies, yews and foundation shrubs cut back into shape and kept off the siding, where they hold moisture against the house.

Worth asking before you decide a tree has to come out.

A crown clean or a reduction is a fraction of a removal, and quite often it is the right answer. Bob will tell you which one you are looking at.
